Systems engineers typically have the following skills and qualifications: 

• A degree in systems engineering or a closely related engineering field 
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills 
• Knowledge of electronics, mathematics, computer systems, system modeling, and research 
• Problem-solving skills 
• Technical skills 

Systems engineers manage and monitor installed systems and infrastructure to ensure they are consistently up and running. They do not perform coding and web application development like a software engineer.
